![]() Mexico City is a lovely destination, and I can take Puerto Vallarta’s craziness for a few days. I am pretty glad that I could have this one-way booked using miles because I am trying to bring my points/miles balances down to a more acceptable level. It is handy to have miles in all alliances and with several airlines within each because what can be booked, at what mileage level, and how much the surcharges are varies greatly. Get to and from Mexico City Airport safely and in style with Blacklane. The mileage amount is a bit higher, but I still have more than half a million Flying Club miles sitting in my account. The mileage requirement on Virgin was 87,500 plus $234 (when I issued the ticket). There were available flights on both KLM and Air France at 80,000 miles and $300. Delta would have wanted 75,000 SkyMiles and 261 euros. Delta Air Lines:ĭelta was trying to push me to AeroMexico, but I would rather not have two transits in Europe with checked bags, although I would love to revisit Virgin’s Club House that AM uses for their business class passengers. There were no reasonable options on either Star Alliance airlines (300K+ on UA) or Oneworld, and SkyTeam came to the rescue again, as they have flights on AeroMexico, Air France, and KLM from various European cities directly to Mexico City. I must get to Mexico City in late December for the New Year’s festivities with friends and some beach time in Puerto Vallarta afterward.
